Americans turned out in large numbers at rallies coordinated to occur on Saturday in over 1,400 locations across the nation to protest in support of their country and against Donald Trump and the actions he has initiated since returning to the White House. Indivisible, one of the event’s organizers, described what they were seeing in the Trump administration, “This is not just corruption. This is not just mismanagement. This is a hostile takeover.”
Organizers say that 600,000 people had signed up online to attend the “Hands Off” rallies, but turnout was reportedly much higher. No definitive estimate of the number of protesters is available but several sources have put it in the millions, with estimates ranging from 2.3 million to more than 5 million. People across all 50 states, in large cities and small towns, carried signs with messages for Trump, Elon Musk, DOGE, Congress, Trump voters, and angry, frustrated, frightened Americans reluctant to take action.
A sampling of their messages tells the story of the widening resistance to the Trump policy blitzkrieg against the rule of law and programs that have improved the quality of life for generations of Americans.
